Condolence: Through the good fortune of John Buchan meeting Mr. Boyce two years ago, several of his Dunnville High School athletes of the mid 1950s were able to reconnect with him via e-mail. We retold stories and updated him on our lives. It was really special for us and for me in particular. Hugh was my role model. He inspired me to commit to a career in coaching.

His DHS athletes want his family to know that Hugh has always held and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Be at peace with this knowledge.
Ron Watson, nicknamed "Scooter" by Mr. Boyce

Condolence: Although it was so many years ago my memories of Mr Boyce are so positively vivid!

Much of my life has revolved around Athletics. Much of that is due entirely to the encouragement he gave me at a very formative time at DDHS.

Thank you Sir

John Buchan

Condolence: To the Boyce family:
I never had the pleasure of knowing Hugh's family. I worked with Hugh at Lisgar Collegiate in Ottawa a great deal as I was a counsellor and Hugh the VP. I found him to be very professional in his role and yet had a very human and humane approach to the students we dealt with. Hugh had a great sense of humour that made working with him a real adventure and pleasure. I am so pleased that his life after he retired was as long and as active as it obviously was. I will remember him as long as I live and I send deepest condolences to you all.

Condolence: Dear Jane, Jeff, Bill and Jennifer and Aunt Fay. So saddened to learn of the passing of my Uncle Hugh. It was great to see him and yourself Aunt Fay at your place in Wasaga Beach a couple of summers ago. Uncle Hugh, perhaps a bit older, was still exactly as I always remember - my Mom's older brother with the bright twinkling eyes and that priceless Uncle Hugh personality, quick with a joke and a wonderful laugh. We had lots of fun together in a short time that afternoon and evening and I will always think back on the memory of our many laughs together during our last visit.

Condolence: We were saddened to hear of Hugh's passing.
We have fond memories of Hugh and the family from our days as neighbours on the Rideau River in Manotick. Hugh was a true gentleman, a family man and a terrific neighbour.
He loved the water and spent much of his spare time sailing, boating, lifeguarding (both his own and our children) and just soaking in the amazing views. Hugh enjoyed animals and watching the antics of Barkey and Rhiney and he actually put himself in harms way to save Rhiney when she fell through the ice.
One vivid memory is of Hugh and Bob dressed so that every inch was covered by at least one layer in preparation to attack a hornet's nest under Hugh's deck. I can't remember if they were successful in getting rid of the hornets but they certainly were successful in providing a lot of laughs for their creative coverups.
Hugh had a life well lived and left a wonderful legacy in his 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
