Richard and Gaye Henry
Dear Dianne, Doug and Brenda Lee,
We had the car running and a coat on when we got a call advising us that the roads were bad and we should probably stay home. A decade earlier, I might have ignored this advice, but common sense seems older and wiser so we have reluctantly decided to stay in our home and build the fire up in the wood stove. Please know that we are thinking about you all and a dearly missed aunt Isobel.
I have in mind a scene I saw many years ago when I was travelling, as I did every spring for 5-6 years, to Montréal to pick up my son Brendan from the university. Every year, I would look for a team of heavy work horses that worked in the fields of this farm. One year, something was wrong. One of the team was down and his/her partner was standing over the other. When I came back two days later, the old faithful horse was still standing over his team mate, unwilling to leave the other's side. That was the last time I saw either of them. Today sure brings back that and some other lovely memories.
Our love to you all,
Richard and Gaye
